Industry achieves success in PMIA technology

On December 26, the project appraisal meeting on “industrialization technological development of PMIA Paper & Textiles" and "PPTA pilot technology” of the Yantai Spandex Group was held in Beijing. The Appraisal Board composed of academician Zhou Guo-Tai from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and other experts consistently agreed that the results derived from these two technologies will fill the technological gap of the Chinese industry.

PMIA paper, with properties such as high-strength, low deformation, high temperature, corrosion-resistant, flame-retardant, insulating and so on, is widely used in electrical insulation as well as aerospace, transportation and other fields. For a long time, PMIA paper technology has been exclusively monopolized by U.S. DuPont in the world.

Yantai Spandex Group has achieved success in industrial production of PMIA (also known as 1313) in 2004; the group has, on this basis, developed industrial technology of PMIA with independent intellectual property rights, and established a production line of 500 tons of the same per year. China has become the world's second producer, which is able to produce its own PMIA.
