The Indian Textile Industry has become one of the worlds leading producer and exporter of textile and clothing items, and therefore also one of the most important markets for textile machinery. In recent times, India has also started being recognized as an important market for technical textiles (including nonwovens and composites). India is also producing these innovative textiles that find application in diverse sectors.

Among the numerous application sectors, the automotive industry in India is fast gaining recognition and is forecasted to become a leading car producer by 2015. Large infrastructure development projects in India combined with favourable government policies will drive growth in this sector over the next few years. To realise this existing potential, the industry must work towards enhancing its competitiveness in the dynamic market place by adopting appropriate technology to produce superior quality products.
