Symposium on Automotive Textiles on January 22 at Delhi

The Indian Textile Industry has become one of the worlds leading producer and exporter of textile and clothing items, and therefore also one of the most important markets for textile machinery. In recent times, India has also started being recognized as an important market for technical textiles (including nonwovens and composites). India is also producing these innovative textiles that find application in diverse sectors.

Among the numerous application sectors, the automotive industry in India is fast gaining recognition and is forecasted to become a leading car producer by 2015. Large infrastructure development projects in India combined with favourable government policies will drive growth in this sector over the next few years. To realise this existing potential, the industry must work towards enhancing its competitiveness in the dynamic market place by adopting appropriate technology to produce superior quality products.

Looking at this boost in demand and to tap the existing opportunities, the Italian Trade Commission (ICE), the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT) and Business Co-ordination House (BCH) are organising a 'Symposium on Automotive Textiles' on January 22, 2009 at Ganga Hall, Shangri-La Hotel, Ashoka Road, New Delhi.

The symposium will focus on 'Italian Technology for Automotives- Engineering Innovative Materials'.

The Italian machinery manufacturers present at the symposium will offer their latest innovations in spinning, weaving, knitting, nonwovens, finishing, printing, dyeing, coating and laminating. The symposium will be a one day event and will include deliberations on the technology, potential and status of this emerging industry.

The program will open with a welcome note by MR. ERICA DI GIOVANCARLO, Italian Trade Commissioner, India, ICE. MR. MAURO BADAUNELLI from ACIMIT will speak on “Italian Textile Machinery-Matching Your Needs”. During the opening session, Mr. Samir Gupta from BCH will also present the market perspective of automotive textiles in India.

Mr. GUIDO ZANON from SMIT S.p.A will present his company's industrial fabrics machines. A presentation on novelty knitted and woven products for automotives made with electronic crochet machines, warp knitting machines and weaving needle looms will be made by MR. ROSSANO UGAZIO from COMEZ S.p.A.

MR. DOMENICO CRAVIOLO from BONINO CARDING MACHINES S.r.l. will speak about automotive nonwovens with Bonino and HDB. Another interesting presentation on Innovative nonwoven technologies will be made by MR. VASCO PAGNI from CORMATEX S.r.l.

“Innovation in Automotive Textiles” will be presented by MR. MAURO FASSI from LORIS BELLINI S.p.A. DR. MONICA SCIONI FROM OT-LAS S.r.l. will present on laser treatment of technical textiles for automotives. An innovative technology for calendaring, NIPCO technology will be stressed upon by MR. ETTORE GUARNERI from RAMISCH GUARNERI Nipco Technology.
