Twenty years after they were first introduced, Rollerblade skates are still breaking new boundaries – this time with the choice of tough DuPont materials for the company's newly introduced high-end Point 8 aggressive inline skates.

For the first time, Rollerblade has adopted DuPont Delrin acetal resin reinforced withDuPont Kevlar aramid for the inline skate's frame. According to Rollerblade, Delrin has an inherently low-friction surface that makes it ideal for aggressive skating techniques. The tougher than steel Kevlar reinforcement adds abrasion resistance for greater durability.

Meanwhile, for Rollerblade's mid-range aggressive inline skate, the Downtown, glass-reinforced DuPont Zytel nylon is injection molded for the skate frame, boosting stiffness and abrasion resistance.

According to Ippolito Sanfratello, former Olympic skating gold medalist and now Rollerblade product manager, “In both new models, the use of these tough DuPont materials allows faster and smoother skating yet ensures longer life. By adopting these advanced materials, Rollerblade strengthens its position as the industry's technology leader.”
