Index for textiles group remains unchanged

The W.P.I. Index based rate of inflation for the week ending 03.01.2009 has been provisionally estimated at 5.24% as against the previous week's level of 5.91%.
The textiles group has an overall weight of 9.8% in the WPI Index and hence it is an important group in measuring inflation.
The index for 'Textiles' group remains unchanged at 141.1 (Provisional) as against previous week. The price of raw cotton has declined by 1 per cent.
The annual inflation in respect of the textile group of items was 10.23% as compared to 5.24% for all commodities for the week ending 03.01.2009. There was no change in the weekly inflation of the textile group for the week ending 03.01.2009 as compared to decrease of 0.2 per cent in all commodities.
