While speaking to official sources, a fibre2fashion.com team member was told by the respective companies, that the contract nomination price of Paraxylene (PX) for the month of February 2009 of Nippon Oil Corp and Idemitsu Kosan is announced at US $750 and $780 per metric ton respectively.
Official sources in ExxonMobil also informed us that they have quoted a contract price of $810 per metric ton, CFR for Asia. February contracts seem to be on the lower side since there are few firm buyers for this vital feedstock of PTA.
Companies have still not started quoting contract prices for March 2009 deliveries. Earlier, in the beginning of January, price was around $700–720 per metric ton and with prices firming up in the last few days, buyers are still wary of entering into contracts for March 2009.
