The Cotton Corporation of India has requested 50 million dollars from the government in order to cover losses incurred in operating the minimum cotton support program. The latest total for procurements by the corporation is given at 6.2 million bales. The final total may now reach between 8 and 9 million bales. The national agricultural federation has purchased between 2 and 2.5 million bales which would bring the final procurement by state agencies to 11 million bales. This would represent 40% of the 08/09 limit outturn.
