PTA spot prices increased slightly on Monday and MEG prices also moved higher amid adjustment. Semi-dull and bright polyester chips and CDP slice prices moved upwards along with that of PET bottle chips. A consolidation of prices in acrylic staple fibre prices of 1.5D×38mm and acrylic top 3D×102mm prices was witnessed , while CPL, nylon 6 chips prices stayed dull.

Trade volumes in the polyester market were not large, but due to inflationary pressure of raw material cost, polyester filament markets are indicating a rising trend. At present, downstream textile factories are not taking large deliveries and procurement of materials in more cautious, but inventory levels of polyester filament in chemical fibre plants are lower.

Coupled with rising prices of upstream raw materials, mainstream quotation of polyester chips offered on Monday was 7100-7200 Yuan per ton. There are positive indications that the market outlook of polyester filament will show upward trend in the next few weeks.

Overall price trend of cotton yarn market continued to be stable, with little changes in price. Demand for cotton yarn 21s and 32s was fair from downstream jet weaving sector. Prices of polyester and viscose yarn and of polyester yarn products remained stable, but market trade volume was flat.

Rayon yarn market was relatively stable. Polyester yarn market was dull, but prices of some products still lifted, mainly due to price rise in polyester staple fibre. The prices of viscose staple fibre market also rose to 11,850 Yuan per ton and market outlook of polyester yarns will continue to show upward trend.
