OMNOVA Solutions unveiled its new SUNCRYL 4338 primer coating polymer, an environmentally preferred product for the tape and label market. This ready-to-use modified styrene-butadiene copolymer can be formulated into primer coatings for paper-based silicone release liners.

It can be utilized alone or in combination with pigments, starches, thickeners, lubricants or other ingredients to optimize performance characteristics. SUNCRYL 4338 is specifically designed to work with rod or knife coating applications. It also features excellent silicone hold-out, repulpability, clear coating, mechanical stability, low foaming, and it will not inhibit silicone curing.

Additionally, this product consists of approximately one-third renewable raw materials (excluding water), which provides tape and label release liner customers with a more environmentally preferred solution. Due to its significant bio-based content, SUNCRYL 4338 has earned OMNOVA's E-CHEMISTRY designation.

“This new SUNCRYL product further exemplifies OMNOVA's commitment to our customers,” said Tim Saddow, Senior Market Development Manager, Tape and Adhesives. “As we continue to innovate across all our chemistries, we will do so with an eye on the environment and our products' long-term impact. This is just one of many sustainable products OMNOVA will bring to the market.”

OMNOVA Solutions' E-CHEMISTRY designation signifies that a chemical product contains environmentally preferred attributes valued by customers. The E-CHEMISTRY designation exemplifies OMNOVA's Vision 2014 goals to reduce the environmental impact of its operations and increase its offering of products with sustainable features. The green, tri-bar “E” used in the E-CHEMISTRY symbol and other OMNOVA brands lets customers know they are choosing an environmentally preferred solution.
