In the early spring 2009, the Viscose Committee held its first meeting to discuss the turmoil affecting the viscose filament industry in Beijing due to an overall fall in trade. The managers and supervisors present, made a thorough analysis of the whole trade ranging from production, operation and marketing, and came up with suggestions for the year.

Due to the financial crisis, export volumes have plunged with unit prices too declining sharply with most companies in this trade, laden with heavy losses. In order to sustain and develop this trade, to promote employment and maintain social stability, and most importantly to turn the industry around completely in 2009, management ability needs to be enhanced to lower consumption, save on spending, reduce cost, and stabilize the feedstock prices.

Among other steps, the committee has advised corporations on the need to build confidence to create a atmosphere of mutual trust so as to establish a valid long-term business negotiation system, in terms of a fair, just, effective and reasonable market order. A training course for Sales Directors would be conducted in Xinxiang Chemical Fiber Co. from March.

Other steps recommended by the committee include increasing effective communications with relative government departments, in order to meet with and benefit from the relative policies and to abort all types of sales incentive schemes.
