The Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) organized an Open House Meeting with Shri A.V.Muralidharan , Chairman-cum-Managing ECGC Ltd on March 3, 2009 in Mumbai. On the occasion Shri S.Prabhakaran , Executive Director , ECGC and Shri R.L.Toshniwal , Past Chairman of the Council were also present.

Shri Ganesh Kumar Gupta in his address complimented ECGC for its service to the exporting community and said that the role of ECGC has gained more importance especially in the current situation when exporters are going through tough times owing to global slowdown. Shri Gupta urged ECGC to view the claims of the exporters more sympathetically so that genuine claims are not rejected.

The Chairman, SRTEPC also pointed out the difficulty faced by the exporters due to the decision taken by ECGC recently to collect one month premium in advance from those banks which extends export credit facilities since the banks in turn are recovering the premiums in advance from the exporters. Shri Gupta also suggested that ECGC should provide creditworthiness reports of overseas buyers to the exporters at nominal costs.

Shri A.V. Muralidharan , CMD assured the exporters of speedy disposal of genuine claims . He also pointed out that while many of the agencies have stopped providing insurance covers to the exporters, ECGC continues to give covers to the exporters.

Shri Prabhakaran, Executive Director ,ECGC and Shri V.Vishwanathan , General Manager ( National Marketing & Project Exports ) , ECGC made a presentation on the products & services offered by ECGC to the exporters especially to the Small & medium sized exporters. Ms.Smita Gate , Executive Director , SRTEPC in her vote of thanks advised the members of SRTEPC to furnish details of the problems faced by them to the Council so that they can be suitably taken up with ECGC.
