The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has recently put its stamp of approval on an action plan for promoting trade relations with African countries in the period 2009-2010 and develop further the two-way trade.
According to this action plan, there will be a host of promotional programs with a view to accelerate exports from key Vietnamese sectors like textiles, clothing, footwear, agri-products, food and consumption products etc.
The ministry has set ambitious targets to increase the two-way trade with the African continent and take it to US$2.5 billion in 2009, with exports from Vietnam totaling to $1.6 billion and $3 billion in 2010, with an annual growth rate of 20 percent.
Because of the ongoing global economic crisis in almost all its traditional big markets, the country has been thriving to diversify its export markets to offset the drop in sales in key markets like US and EU.
