The Ministry of Culture proposes to release films on artists hailing from the handicraft industry in the country. The Cinematic Affairs department has been told to produce these films on well known handicraft artisans from across the country.
The Handicraft and Traditional Craft department under the Ministry of Culture has directed its regional offices to trace and introduce artisans of repute from their respective regions to the head office for consideration for the films.
The purpose behind producing these films is to boost the handicraft industry in the country and also to attract more and more people to the sector, in face of dwindling number of artisans who have left the trade.
An agreement to produce the films will be signed between the Handicrafts department and the Cinematic department, both functioning under the Ministry of Culture.
