Reports are coming in from Botswana of two Chinese textile companies displaying their intention to invest in a Textile Industrial Park in the country, with an investment of around US $52 million named Phakalane Industrial Park.
The project is expected to house around 66 textile and garment companies and when fully operational will generate employment for around 8,000 people and generate foreign exchange revenues of $280 million.
This project was conceived at the China-Africa summit in November 2006, the director of one of the companies was quoted as saying and were duly encouraged by the then President of Botswana to invest in the country.
