Textile fabrics are produced from the bonding, fusing, or interlocking of fabrics and felts, but their physical properties restrict their potential end usage. The most versatile method of making textile fabric is the manufacturing of yarn into fabric.
Three principal methods are used for this process. Interweaving, intertwining, and interloping. Knitting is the most common method of interloping and succeeds weaving in the textile manufacturing process.
More than 7 million tons of knitted garments are manufactured globally. The unique quality of knitting is being practiced for centuries, and modern technology has enabled knitted constructions in shaped and unshaped fabric to manufacture a wide assortment of fabrics for industrial and domestic uses.
