Mitsubishi Chemicals had announced the start-up of a new Polypropylene (PP) plant with a capacity of 300,000 metric tons per annum in the first quarter of 2009, but due to reasons, the process to begin on-stream operations have been delayed.

Fibre2fashion spoke to a company official of Mitsubishi Chemicals who confirmed the information by saying that, “Yes, we have delayed the start-up of new PP plant located in Kashima, Japan and now plan to start this plant after August 2009”.

He added by saying that, “During the trail runs of the 300,000 tons per year plant, we found that a few improvements needed to be done for the smooth functioning of the PP plant, which is the main reason for the delay”.
