The biggest buyers of wool from Australia; the Chinese are now insisting on non-mulesed wool from their wool suppliers in the country.
This change in attitude has come about due to the pressure exerted by their European buyers to only process wool which has been sheared by non-mulesing.
This has a sent a panic through the wool sector across Australia as their competitors in New Zealand, South Africa and Argentina offer the same.
Australian experts from the industry aver that this should serve as a wake up call, since the demand is for non-mulesed wool and not Australian wool in particular.
