Speaking at the interactive session organised by Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) and Department of Industries, Govt. of Rajasthan, Shri J K Jain, Chairman, FIEO (Northern Region) said that the global economic meltdown had shrunk the international market and the exporters were passing through a very difficult phase and that there were many foreign trade policy and banking issues which required to be addressed on priority. .

The meeting was attended by exporters, in large numbers, from the Jaipur region. Smt. Rukmani Haldia, Addl. Chief Secretary, Govt. of Rajasthan assured the support of the Govt. of Rajasthan to help reach state's exports to newer heights.

Addressing the gathering Shri R S Gujaral, DGFT said that he was seized of the difficulties faced by the exporters and assured to look into the issues to provide possible relief to the exporters. He complimented the exporters for bravely facing the adverse export conditions like the earlier Rupee appreciation and the present global recession. He assured that his department would always stand by the exporters as a facilitator in their efforts to reach out to the global market.

A number of issues like the grant of permission for transferability of duty scrip/goods under SFIS, expansion of Focus Market scheme to cover countries like Myanmar, Russia, Ukraine etc. and expansion of Focus Product schemes to hard hit products like made-ups etc., delay in redemption of Bank Guarantee/LUT, extension of incentives to fast track companies, delay in grant of legitimate export benefits, deemed export benefits on supply to EoU etc. were raised during the meeting.

The exporters sought special relief for the key industry sector of Jaipur i.e., Handicraft. They suggested increase in incentives under promotional schemes, applicability of zero percent duty on import of machinery, easy availability of bank finance with relaxation in NPA etc. for the handicraft sector.

Shri Ajay Sahai, Director General FIEO addressing the exporters said that to assist the exporters in their marketing efforts Market Development Scheme should be extended to the direct participation by the exporters. He was also of the view that the present ceiling of Rupees 15 Crores for availing MDA should be dispensed with.

Mr. Sahai stated that Indian exporters have still to suffer higher transaction cost in the form of State levies like VAT, Octroi, etc. which are non-rebateable and make India's export products uncompetitive in the international market. He suggested to factor the same in schemes like Duty Drawback/DEPB. He offered FIEO help to Govt. of Rajasthan in formulating Exports Policy of Rajasthan and organising awareness programme in cluster areas of Rajasthan.

Smt. Veenu Gupta, Secretary (Industries), Govt. of Rajasthan also assured full support of the Industries department to the exporters from the state so that they can carry on their trade with lesser hindrances.
