Elimination of VOC & Fungus needs immediate attention – FDDI

FDDI organized a seminar on 'Elimination of VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) & Fungus' on 23rd April, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in FDDI Auditorium.
"Footwear and leather goods industry continues to tackle the toughest trading conditions of elimination of banned chemicals. Elimination of VOC & Fungus, which is health hazardous and age old basic problem, needs immediate attention for its elimination." - Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI.
In the seminar, the sector's most influential leaders from various major chemical companies who were having immense experience in this sector expressed their views.
Delivering the welcome address, Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI, said, "Footwear and leather goods industry continues to tackle the toughest trading conditions of elimination of banned chemicals. Elimination of VOC & Fungus, which is health hazardous and age old basic problem, needs immediate attention for its elimination."
"The deliberations from the experts of the industry will enable the sector to navigate safely through the required technical parameters," added Mr. Lakhara.
As there are thousands of different VOCs, there are also an innumerable amount of sources such as Paint, Air Fresheners, Leather, Carpeting, Cosmetics, Particleboard Copiers & Printers, Tobacco, Smoke, Glues, House cleaning chemicals etc that the average person may encounter on a day-to-day basis.

The seminar included presentation on "PU Technology for Water Based Adhesive" by M/s Bayer Material Science.
Similarly, M/s. Dong Sung gave presentation on "Reduction of VOC with Solvent Based Adhesives & Elimination of VOC with Water Based Adhesive".
On this occasion, Ms. Oznur Mutlu, Vice President of Li & Fung was the chief guest.
Dr. Dieter Dausmann (Technology Manager for Global Shoe Business, -Henkel), Mr. Harsh Gupta, Country Manager Henkel, Mr. Anand Khot Head Business Development for Coatings Adhesives and Specialties Business Unit of Bayer Material Science Private Limited from the industry gave the presentation.
Ms. Satyam Srivastava, Consultant Finishing, FDDI also gave a presentation on 'Anti Fungus Applications on Leather & Leather Products.'
