Patchwork fabrics transforms art into practicality

Usage of patchwork fabrics dates back to the ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman civilizations. With the span of time, this craft has evolved as more than an art.

It patches together small pieces of clothing to make a large material like bed spreads, curtains etc. Initially used for protection under metal armor in the ancient days, the trend have currently metamorphosised into a contemporary fashion.

Leftover fabrics can be creatively used for patchwork. The uniqueness of the pattern of the work depends on one's own creativity.

Many patterns such as triangles, chess board cheks, squares, and diamonds can be used to make appealing designs on the cloth. Patch-working and quilting go a long way, and have undergone drastic changes from what it was centuries ago.

It is regarded as one of the most popular past times because it brings together practicality and creativity, one combination which works for a lot of people.
