Infringement suit filed against Grasim owned 'Kara' skin wipes

The Aditya Birla Group Company, Grasim Industries had launched in 2007, face wipes under the brand name of 'Kara'.
Marico Industries which runs a chain of skin clinics and also has an in house skin wipes brand under the name of 'Kaya' has taken objection to the brand name 'Kara'.
Marico has filed a case of infringing on its Kaya brand in a court in New Delhi. It has also opposed the registration of Kara as a trademark.
Fibre2fashion spoke exclusively to Mr Rakesh Pandey, CEO of Kaya Skin Clinics, who said, “Since the brand name 'Kara' is an infringement of our trademark 'Kaya', we have filed a case against Grasim Industries in the Delhi High Court in February 2009.
He added by saying that the case is still pending and is due to come up in hearing around July 2009.
