TOBEX – Winner of FESPA Digital Print Awards again!

For the third year in a row TOBEX has won first price in the big prestigious international competition Fespa Digital Print Awards. This years competition was devided into six different categories. TOBEX won the Fine Art category.
”Fantastic! Incredible ! We didn´t thought it was true when we got the call from London telling us that we had won this year again”, says Torbjörn Johansson when he received the price at the winner dinner.
The print that TOBEX won the Fine Art category was with “Letting Go” a lovely print made for TOBEX client Liz Nilsson, a Swedish designer living in Dublin, Ireland. She was part of an exhibition called “Pink Thursday”, at Trelleborgs Museum, Sweden.
It was the first time that TOBEX printed onto Viscose/Silk velvet and we did not know if it was possible to print with Pigment Inks. Liz wanted the print to be very brilliant and normaly Reaktiv Inks is used when printing on Viscose/Silk but we don´t use Reaktive so we had to work a lot with the file to get the colors right. We printed on a Mimaki TX2 using Pigment Inks including binder from BASF and we printed on to the Viscose/Silk Velvet fabric. Liz was very happy with the print, she thought that the print looked even better then the original photo.
In august 2008 Liz Nilsson also won first price with this print in the ”the Royal Dublin Society's Craft Exhibition/competition”, category Digital Print. This exhibition was one of the highlights of the Irish Crafts industry calender during 2008.
We at TOBEX are really proud and amazed that we had won for the third time, we won the Nordic category 2007, 2008 we won two awards, in the Textile and the Fine Art category and now 2009 in Fine Art.
