CPSIA and Labelling Regulation awareness seminars conducted in Dhaka TÜV SÜD joins forces with ASTM and AATCC International to provide technical seminar programs throughout South Asia Dhaka, Bangladesh - Up-to-date knowledge of CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act) and Fibre Identification Labelling Regulation is of paramount importance to those textile manufacturers in India and Bangladesh exporting to Europe and USA.

TÜV SÜD has teamed up with US textile expert associations ASTM and AATCC International to provide series of two-day, deep-dive technical seminars on CPSIA, Fiber Composition Regulation and General Test methods. The first training was conducted in Dhaka, Bangladesh from April 21-22 April, by leading AATCC and ASTM International recognised trainer Mr. Jayakumar Gopalakrishnan. Response from the 40 program participants was extremely positive and now plans are in place for further training programs to take place throughout South Asia.

What is the current status of CPSIA implementation? Which products are affected by this Act? Which are exempted? The technical seminar provides an intensive overview of CPSIA and provides answers to these questions and many more, including information on test requirements and test methods, timelines and tolerances of CPSIA. The fibre composition regulations component of the program details the various regulatory requirements of US/EU authorities, labelling guidelines, exceptions and product specific applications.

And finally general test methods are discussed, including basic concepts of quality and performance testing methods, analysis of test results and corrective measures. Trainer Mr. Jayakumar Gopalakrishnan hails the first of these technical seminars a great success. "The participants were very engaged and eager to understand the Act, in order to fulfil requirements of social compliance affecting their business, many of whom expressed interest in joining AATCC and ASTM International to keep abreast of future industry updates."

TÜV SÜD's Mr. N. Ezhilan, Country Manager for Bangladesh operations was also pleased with the program's response. "TÜV SÜD is committed to ensuring the textile industry experts receive timely updates on safety and quality issues that affect their business. We thank AATCC and ASTM International for their expert support in providing the training content and look forward to working together to bring in specialists from other fields of the Textile Industry to expand such programs for the entire South Asia region in the future".
