The production processes that generate wastewaters have been ordered to stop by the HCM City Department of Natural Resources and Environment, if that water is not treated properly. The department asked Paiho Company to stop its operation, which is a Taiwanese-owned textile dyes maker in Tan Tao Industrial Park.

The department informed that the analysis of samples of wastewater from the company showed the dirty level of effluents, which was ten times higher than permissible; even though the company has a wastewater treatment system.

The other companies those have been asked to stop some of their production processes include Tuan Lan Production and Trading Company and Khai Dang Production and Trading company, both in Tan Tao Industrial Park.

The two other companies named in the list are Khoi Nguyen and Pham Thu Production Trading Company in Hoc Mon District and the later company was found discharging 100 to 500 cubic meters of untreated wastewater daily. The quality of effluents in this wastewater was five times worse than permissible levels.

These companies have been fined earlier for the same violations, Paiho has paid VND30 million, Tuan Lan VND5 million, Pham Thu VND42 million and Khoi Nguyen VND18 million.

The ban will continue till the enterprises do not treat sewage properly, said the Department's Chief Inspector Nguyen Thi Du. The department will establish an inter-departmental inspection team to deal with the enterprises that are still not following department's rules, informed Nguyen.
