Fibre production improves in April vis-à-vis March

Japan's production of man-made fibers dwindled down by 31.1 percent in the month of April as compared to the same month of the previous year; however, it increased by 10.3 percent from the previous month to 65,535 tons, according to the Japan Chemical Fibers Association.

The MMF production in the month of March has been marked as the lowest level in 46 years and production has fallen drastically in 2009, when compared with that in 2008, though it has improved in April.

The production of Nylon filament in April month fell by 47.6 percent from the year before to 4,997 tons and the acrylic staple fiber saw reduction of 40.4 percent to 10,522 tons along with that of polyester filament by 47 percent to 11,202 tons.

The production of polyester staple fiber decreased by 26.4 percent to 11,179 tons, though it experienced a growth of 27.8 percent, when compared to the previous month.
