Prices for skirting types fell sharply on Wednesday resulting in a 25.1% pass-in rate for the day. Thursday was a better day with prices quoted as fully firm or unchanged by AWEX. Crossbreds average MPGs were generally down by around 5%. Oddments were again the least affected part of the market and finished with good support today. The Merino Cardings average MPG was down by 5¢ (-1%).

Buyers for China dominated sales this week followed by support from India.

Sales will be held in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle next week, when 35,834 bales are currently rostered for sale. Present estimates for the following two sales are 26,130 and 42,015 bales, respectively, an increase of 15.1% over the three sale period when compared with last year.

South African sales are in recess until next Wednesday.
