The National Buyer seller meet – “Knits & Wears 2009” organised by Knitwear & Apparel Manufacturers Association of Ludhiana (KAMAL), supported by Knitwear Club began 6th June at PAU grounds and hotel Lee Barron.

Buyer Seller Meet "Knits & Wears 2009" has since started on 6th June, 2009 at Puanjab Agrculture University and Hotel Lebarron, Ferozpure Road, Ludhiana and it will be concluded on 10th june, 2009.

Mr. Vishavbandhu, the worthy General Manager, DIC Ludhiana was kind enough to inaugurate the meet.

The purpose of organising this event is to make Ludhiana a centre of attraction for buyers of Knitwear/Textile goods from all over the country right from Kashmir to Kanya Kumari and Shri Jagan Nath Puri to Kuchh. Over one thousand customers are expected to participate. Elaborate and impeccable arrangements have been made for the comfort and convenience of the participants.

Although Knitwear industry in Ludhiana is more than one hundred year old (to be precise from the year 1894) providing employment to over 4 lac people directly/indirectly yet it never presented a homogeneous picture.

Necessity of holding such a meet at Ludhiana emanated from the bitter experience we had in the past when we used to visit Delhi for promotion of sales of our products in small groups at different locations and at different times in a very unorganised manner. As a matter of fact we presented a picture of a rudderless ship wandering here & there without any definite direction. There was no co-ordination whatsoever among the entrepreneurs.

An innovative and bold initiative was taken by the organizers of Knitwear & Apparel Manufacturers Association of Ludhiana (KAMAL) to arrange the buyer seller meet – “Knits & Wears 2009”. About fifty companies of repute and standing are exhibiting their latest winter collections at PAU while twenty four others have been accommodated at hotel Le Baron. Not surprisingly the hotels in Ludhiana are showing 'no rooms available' signs because of the heavy rush of visitors.

Buoyed by the success of holding a similar meet last year which was an astounding success, it is not difficult to foresee that the event will remain in full swing and witness buzzing business activity throughout the duration of five days.
