Textile designer and artist Emma Howard will be teaching "How To Turn Your Art Into An Aloha Shirt Print Design" workshop from June 19 to June 21, 2009 at Studio Be, 2nd floor, Beretania Street, Honolulu.

Leticia Ojeda of Office of Hawaiian Affairs connected me with "Studio Be" in Chinatown, Honolulu which is run by Moana Aluli Meyer, to hold this workshop in.

On Friday, June 19, Dale Hope, art director for Kahala Sportswear, will start off the first day of workshop by speaking to the artists about the apparel industry, illustrated throughout his book, The Aloha Shirt, spirit of the islands.

Emma Howard:
In 2007 I graduated from Bournemouth University (NCCA) with a Masters in Computer Animation. I have recently been working as a 3D artist at Rare, creating avatar assets for the new dashboard on the Xbox360. My software skills include Maya, XSI Softimage, and Photoshop. Previous to this I would generally work with practical art methods and it has been a natural progression into wanting to produce work in a digital format.

In 2000 I trained as a set designer at the National Film School, after I finished my studies I worked in the art department in the television industry. This has inspired my interest in creating environments and assets for games. I also used to build mechanical sculptures and have exhibited as a fine artist.

I possess a strong imagination, I am keen designer and have developed a good eye for detail. I am also organised, flexible and used to working in a variety of genres and styles. I am eager to learn and continue to develop my 3d skills.
