Central Cottage Industries Corporation of India (CCIC) explores the possibility of opening a franchise showroom in the Chinese capital, Beijing, said the CCIC Managing Director Mr. MA Ibrahimi. Indian art objects, especially the Thangka paintings, and hand-made gift items are among the favorites of Chinese people, he added.
This outlet would be the second overseas foray of the state-owned CCIC. Mr. Ibrahimi hoped that the outlet could be opened by the end of this fiscal and it would acquire enough business by promoting Indian arts and crafts in China.
CCIC, which showcases the best of hand-made products, has opened its first showroom in the Danish capital Copenhagen, this year. For the Chinese venture, CCIC is yet to finalize the franchise partner, informed Mr. Ibrahimi.
