Dow Corning to double number of silicones available on online 'XIAMETER'

“Today we are also announcing that in future our Dow Corning brand will focus exclusively on innovation, supplying specialty products and new applications for customers who want customized solutions and technical support. Through our business units and our interactions with customers we will identify opportunities to apply our innovative thinking to help solve their problems. Through our centers of excellence for Research and Development, we will continuously identify and pursue new trends and new product, service and technology opportunities.

“Much of our work in this area will be linked to mega trends around green energy, clean and accessible water and sustainable urban environments. The need for sustainable solutions is increasingly important for our customers and for our society. Collaboration between Dow Corning and our customers has already resulted in materials and solutions that help address some of the most pressing problems of our era. Although we're delighted with what we've achieved so far, we also know it is only a beginning.

'Today, water scarcity affects one in three people on every continent of the globe. Reports from the World Health Organisation indicate that the situation is getting worse as our demand for water rises through population growth, urbanization and increases in household and industrial uses. It's forecast that by 2030, almost half the world's population will live in areas of high water stress. It is already a concern here in India which, like China, is already experiencing water scarcity. All of this means that we need to find ways to reduce the quantity used in food cultivation for example or during manufacturing processes. But we also need to find ways to ensure that what is available is clean and fit for people to consume.
