A project is being developed for the promotion of Vietnamese traditional handicrafts, by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), at five World Heritage sites in Vietnam.
These five World Heritage sites in Vietnam named Ha Long Bay, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Hue Citadel, Hoi An land My Son are the best places, to sell domestic traditional handicrafts, said Mr. Tran Nhat Ly of UNESCO's Vietnam Committee.
These handicraft products are often sold without brand-names, producers' or artisans' names or product descriptions.
The member of a group of project researchers, Mr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Chem said that the traditional handicraft industry in the four provinces where these heritage sites were located faced problems having outdated production technology.
Mr. Chem further said that the provincial development plans do not often include the handicraft industry.
