Asian benzene fell US $10.75 per ton on Wednesday due to continuous decline of crude oil. FOB Korea closed at US $827.5-828.5 per ton, while FOB Southeast Asia closed at $819.5-820.5 per ton.
In Asian market, August shipment of pure benzene was offered at $825 per ton FOB Korea, with little interest shown by most Japanese buyers. In the afternoon, August shipment fell to US $820 per ton.
September shipment was offered between $815 and $830 per ton. Trammochem quoted $836 for August shipment, but could not conduct transactions, since buyer's intention was below $810 per ton.
Shanghai branch of Sinopec raised its price of pure benzene by 300 Yuan to 6,100 Yuan per ton; however Beijing, Guangzhou and Wuhan branches temporarily maintained the prices at 5800 Yuan per ton.
Supply shortage of pyrolysis gasoline continued to affect normal operation of aromatic plants. Malaysia's aromatics plant at Kertih decreased its operation rate from 100 percent to about 85 percent in July due to raw material supply problem.
