Added value of textile industry grows in first half

According to the news from the Ministry of Industry and Information, the added value of textile industry grew 8.2 percent in the first half, of which, the added value rose 11 percent in June, 1.3 percent higher than in May.

Export delivery value of textile products declined 7.9 percent year-on-year, less than the overall decline of the country. However, production of yarn, cloth and clothing steadily increased by 9.4 percent, 0.2 percent and 11.4 percent, respectively.

Domestic cotton prices rose slightly. By the end of June, domestic cotton price index (328) stood at 12,836 Yuan per ton, up 57 Yuan per ton from the previous month and polyester chip price stood at 8,350 Yuan per ton, up 500 Yuan from the end of May.

From January-May, the overall textile & garment sector realized profits of 42.7 billion Yuan, an increase of 1 percent year-on-year, in which, the textile industry achieved total profits of 24.9 billion Yuan , down 1.5 percent while, clothing manufacturing industry reached total profits of 15.2 billion Yuan, an increase of 16.6 percent.
