Invista celebrates 50 years of swimwear with Lycra Fiber

INVISTA, maker of LYCRA fiber and Xtra Life LYCRA fiber, will celebrate its 50th anniversary with its annual group runway show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami.
Gretta Monahan, style expert and co-host of Bravo Network's “Tim Gunn's Guide to Style,” will host the runway show featuring exciting swimwear looks from the past, present and future.
As homage to the past 50 years of innovative swimwear technology through fiber and fabric techniques, INVISTA will showcase historical garments from the 1960's to the 1990's, 2010 designer collections containing LYCRA fiber and Xtra Life LYCRA fiber and concept suits created by garment manufacturers forecasting the next generation of design and fabrication.
Designers participating in this year's show include: Adriana Degreas, ÁGUA DE COCO por Liana Thomaz, ANDRES SARDA, Banana Moon, BECCA by Rebecca Virtue, Brette Sandler, Christina, Cia Maritima, DKNY, Gottex, Karla Colletto, Lenny, Marc by Marc Jacobs Swimwear, MARYAN MEHLHORN, Miraclesuit, NEXT by Athena, Poko Pano, Profile, Red Carter, Reebok, Salinas, Sauvage by Elizabeth Southwood, SHAN, Speedo, Sunflair, Tibi, Tommy Bahama Swim, Vitamin A and ViX.
Introduced in 2005, swimwear with Xtra Life LYCRA fiber provides a longer-lasting fit that resists bagging and sagging. Exposure to suntan lotion, skin oils and chlorine can compromise fabric stretch and recovery, quickly degrading the fit of a suit. Swimwear with Xtra Life LYCRA fiber is five to ten times more resistant to chlorine, suntan lotion and skin oils than swimwear with ordinary spandex, helping keep its fit longer.
This revolutionary fiber has been adopted by some of the biggest brands in swimwear and has brought a higher standard for fit to consumers around the world.
