Intending to offer better and more business opportunities to local and foreign entrepreneurs, an ASEAN handicraft and food exhibition is currently being organized for the local and foreign small and medium enterprises (SMEs) at the Yayusan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah complex.

The exhibition, showcasing local and foreign products such as various handicrafts, textiles, souvenirs, food and confectioneries by SMEs from the countries like Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Brunei, will prove to be a treat for the visitors and help to boost local handicraft industry.

The exhibition also encourages SMEs for being more productive in product's marketing and more competitive in their profession. Handwork such as songkok produced by the residents from Kg Ayer creates more employment, strengthens the economy and develops the industry as well.

The exhibition is providing assistance to the entrepreneurs by providing space at low rentals and at a location where many visitors can gather. These low rental rates assist entrepreneurs to tag affordable prices on local products, which result in a good sale.

Various items on display were also given discounts during the special two-week expo. The quality, design and workmanship of Bruneian local handicrafts such as songkok and kain jongsarat were the centre of attention for the visitors.

The exhibition with 12 booths displaying the best of South-East Asia's handicraft and food products began on July 25 and will be open till August 5.
