Jiangsu textile sector registers positive growth in exports to US

Textile and garment exports from Jiangsu Province reached US $2.25 billion in June, down 8.3 percent year-on-year, but up 13.1 percent from the previous month, of which, textile exports registered $870 million, down 16.3 percent year-on-year.
On the other hand, clothing exports fetched $1.38 billion, down 2.4 percent year-on-year, but indicating a growth of 24.3 percent over the previous month.
The main characteristics of June textile and garment exports from Jiangsu Province indicate that the U.S. and European markets appear to show early signs of stabilization, while declines of traditional markets in Asia have narrowed.
Exports to the EU touched $560 million, down 8.2 percent year-on-year, but up 30.2 percent from the previous month while exports to the United States marked $540 million, up 10.4 percent year-on-year, becoming the only growing market among major markets.
