The Textile Minister, Mr Dayanidhi Maran, has conveyed the demands of the textile sector in time before the Minister of Commerce unveils the foreign trade policy in this month.
Amongst the various requests, is the demand to increase the duty draw back rates by a minimum of 2 percent along with announcing a support policy for the sector.
Divulging details, Mr Maran said that the Commerce Ministry is also considering incentives for textile exporters for diversification of their markets.
He said the Textile Ministry was also working towards attracting foreign investments in the sector by way of conducting road shows in Europe and Japan.
He added by saying that the best part was that fall in exports had been arrested from 15 percent a few months ago to about just 5 percent now.
