Lydall Performance Materials, a division of Lydall Inc, announced that it has officially commissioned its new Needled Fiber Product Operation located at its Green Island, New York facility. This investment in growth gives Lydall a new manufacturing capability to enhance its portfolio of high performance appLY Mat needled glass mat products. These products were developed by Lydall to expand its high temperature insulation product offering to serve global Appliance OEMs. This product line is ideally suited for many application areas ranging from premium residential ovens and water heaters to commercial boilers.

The appLY Mat family of insulation products are glass fiber based, with various product categories designed to offer Appliance OEMs a choice of temperature performance at a variety of one-ply thicknesses. These unique features impart robust handling characteristics to fabricated parts which ease the speed of assembly on production lines.

"We are extremely excited about this new addition which expands the breadth of the product basket we offer to our customers. This capability furthers the continued development of new thermal and acoustic insulation innovations to support Lydall's market expansion in the Appliance Industry," said Patricia Blanc, Marketing Director for Performance Materials.

Design and start-up of this operation was governed by Lydall's strict adherence to Lean Six Sigma principles. "This custom designed equipment has been optimized for very tight process control which is key to achieving the stringent quality standards that are expected by our customers," said Terrence Dingman, Operations Director for the Green Island facility.

Lydall's expertise is delivering novel engineered solutions utilizing a broad scope of materials and process technologies. "Establishing this new capability fits well into our strategy to build a diverse technology base to serve existing customers and also expand into markets and applications not currently served," stated Patrick Apfeld, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Lydall Performance Materials.

Lydall, Inc. is a New York Stock Exchange listed company, headquartered in Manchester, Connecticut. The Company, with operations in the U.S., France, Germany and The Netherlands and sales offices in Europe and Asia, focuses on specialty engineered products for the thermal/acoustical, bio/medical and filtration/separation markets.
