A set of four special postage stamps highlighting country's textiles, including Kanchipuram Silk of Tamil Nadu, Banarasi Silk of Uttar Pradesh, Kalamkari Textiles of Andhra Pradesh, Appatani weaves of Arunachal Pradesh, would be released on 8th December this year, informed the officials of Postal Department.
Another set of stamps would also be released in November, which will highlight indigenous horses such as Kati, Kathiawari, Spiti, Zanskari and Manipuri. Besides, the stamps on wild animals including Red Panda, Marbled Cat and Phayres Leaf Monkey would be released on 'World Wild Life Day' i.e. on 1st October.
On 2nd October, a special stamp to honour Mahatma Gandhi will also be introduced this year. The department is planning to release stamps on INS-Virat, Silent Valley, glaciers, and Diwali festivals too.
