Exports of silk products down

China's exports of pure silk products reached US $1.62 billion from January to July this year, down 19.92 percent year on year, according to Chinese customs statistics.
Among them, exports of silk-based product group registered $272 million, down 30.14 percent year on year; exports of pure silk satin realized $420 million, down 11.41 percent and exports of products based on silk fabrics touched $930 million, down 19.98 percent.
Exports to major markets saw substantial decline except exports to India, which witnessed growth. Main export markets were US, India, Japan, Italy, and Hong Kong. The US markets accounted for about one quarter of China's total exports.
Among major markets, only exports to India achieved a 0.69 percent growth; while exports to other major markets decreased substantially, exports to Hong Kong fell 35.19 percent, to register the biggest drop.
Main export provinces and cities of pure silk goods were Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Shanghai, and Sichuan. Exports from the five provinces and cities accounted for 87.83 percent of China's total exports of pure silk merchandise.
