Ethylene prices for CFR Northeast Asia and CFR Southeast which were on a roll in the last few days, stopped to catch their breath and in the process fell back. US markets on the other hand, kept their bearings and moved in the Northwards direction on September 16, when compared with prices prevailing last Wednesday.
Prices in CFR Northeast Asia fell back from US $985-990 per metric ton recorded on September 9, to $946-951 per metric ton on September 16. CFR Southeast prices too followed suit and declined from $1090-1095 per metric ton to $1046-1051 per metric ton.
Ethylene prices of FD Northwest Europe too followed suit to descend from €820-825 per metric ton to €813-817 per metric ton, while ethylene prices of CIF Northwest stayed steady for the second consecutive week at $1,000-1,010 per metric ton.
Prices of ethylene in the US markets retained their momentum of the last few weeks and in the process grew from US cent 29.505-29.755 per pound on September 9, to US cent 30.755-31.255 per pound, yesterday.
