In order to honor the efforts of artisan community, CCI has been organizing an annual fair, Crafts Bazaar, since last 10 years. The 10-day annual fair, which is a marketing base for the artisans to display their products, was recently inaugurated by Governor Mr. Surjit Singh Barnala at Valluvar Kottam.

It is a platform to boost up the artisans and an expression of the craftsperson. The exhibition offers a myriad range of jewelry in semi-precious stone, silver, thread, glass beads, coconut shell, lac bangles, jute, pearls, wood and terracotta.

Variety of embroidery as in Kantha Sujni, chikan work and Phulkari used creatively on hand-crafted fabric was one of the best artifacts of the fair.

In addition to this, other hand-made products such as lacquer-ware, bronzes, dhurries, bamboo and cane products, jute articles, kauna crafts, black pottery, woven tribal textiles from Korapad, leather puppets, paintings, bhoota articles, handmade paper products, kalchutties, horn craft cutlery, dhokra, mats, ceramics, mojaris, terracotta, bell metal and metal-ware were also on display.

Handloom saris including Punjabi Phulkari, Paithani, Kalamkari, Kancheepuram and Tangails from West Bengal were the most attractive products amid the entire range of textiles. Varieties of wooden as well as stone products were also displayed in the fair.

A perfect blend of the traditional, tribal designs and the contemporary trends in the fair was suitable for the Gen-Next. About 150 stalls showcased numerous handicraft products.
