Caldeira marches forward to tunes of sales growth

Cushion maker firm, Caldeira saw a 67 percent increase in its sales for the year 2008. Sales of the company increased to £18.62 million from £11.16 million, but its pre-tax profits dropped down to £350,000 from £850,000 on account of a one-off deal and restructuring costs, currency fluctuations and collapse of a key US customer.

However, in the current year sales of the firm should reach up to £22.12 million and pre-tax profits are expected to grow around £1 million, stated Mr. Tony Caldeira, founder of the firm and former ECHO Young Business Person of the Year.
Sales of the company increased after the acquisition of 14 home textile stores called 'Fabric Warehouse' last May and offered the company its first dedicated high street presence. The company has performed well even during current critical times, said Mr Caldeira.

The firm employs around 400 workers at its Knowsley Business Park base, stores, Chinese factory and at a US office. Caldeira maintains a considerable sales progress compared to its competitors and will go on soaring up as it remained prudent during its booming years, added Mr Caldeira.
