Cotton farmers receive remunerative prices this year

Purchase price of new cotton this year is higher, while prices of last year had continued to decline substantially due to which, earnings of cotton farmers will improve to a certain extent this year.
But at the same time, yield and in turn production is expected to fall in some areas, due to natural disasters, so price rise will not be able to compensate for the decrease in output.
Based on projection of purchase price in late September and considering a yield of 500 kg of cotton per Mu (one hectare=15 Chinese mu), cotton farmers will be able to increase their revenue by more than 100 Yuan per mu this year.
Based on a survey of some enterprises, the average purchase price of standard grade cotton in late September was 5.95 Yuan per kg, up 0.47 Yuan per kg compared with 5.48 Yuan pr kg over the same period last year.
In late September this year, average sales price of lint cotton (CC Index328) was 13,115 Yuan per ton, up 188 per ton compared with the average price of 12,927 Yuan per ton last year.
