It is required to set up a Trade Fair Authority to hold exhibitions and trade fairs round the year, in order to promote handicraft and industrial products of J&K, emphasized State Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah.

He was speaking at the inaugural function of 55th Industrial and Handicrafts Exhibition at Kashmir Haat. It will also prove helpful to synchronize the tourist season and to create opportunity for buyer-seller meets, he said, underlining that a calendar should be prepared for the whole year earmarking months and dates for conducting trade fairs and handicraft exhibitions.

The Chief Minister also emphasized on revitalizing the past glory of Kashmir Handicrafts Exhibitions popularly recognized as 'Numaish'. The state should organize industrial and handicraft exhibitions as big as the 'Suraj Kund Mela' organized in 'Haryana' every year, wherein the domestic and foreign handicraft and industrial units take part to showcase their products for mutual trade, added the Chief Minister.

He further said that the J&K government will lend hand to the people associated with industrial and handicraft sectors, which generate numbers of jobs directly or indirectly, to broaden their horizon and expand market orbit. Industries Department should take all possible measures to enhance and develop industrial and handicrafts sectors in the State, stated the Minister.
