Vice-President of China Textile Industry Association, Mr. Gao Yong while presenting a synopsis on the 2009 export situation of the textile industry said that growth in exports from the textile sector in the next year would be flat when compared with 2009.
However, he said, though textile and apparel exports in the first eight months of 2009 fell by 11.78 percent, market shares of the sector increased with its main trading partners like US, European Union and Japan.
He disclosed that, China's market share based on value in the US was 36 percent in 2008, which has now increased to 37.5 percent and based on volumes it has grown from 40 percent to 42 percent now.
China's market share in the countries of the European Union was similar to that of the United States, while Chinese clothing exports to Japan, accounted for an awesome 87 percent of total apparel imports by Japanese buyers.
Gao Yong said that, the textile industry has basically picked up pace, mainly driven by domestic consumption. From January to August, consumer price index of domestic textile and apparel has maintained a growth of about 15 percent.
