Cotton and textile sectors show signs of warming up

China's textile and garment exports has started to show a warming trend and foreign demand has increased. The up-coming traditional consumption season and increased foreign demand for textiles and clothing have driven up consumer market of textiles and clothing recently.
According to customs statistics, in the third quarter of this year, exports of textiles and clothing (including apparel and clothing accessories and textile yarn, fabrics and related products) from Dalian, Liaoning Province reached US $1.15 billion, up 46.7 percent from the second quarter.
Cotton price has been increasing since new cotton started arriving in the market. Cotton price continues to rise after entering into October. In late October, purchase price of seed cotton in Xinjiang remained at 7.00 Yuan per kg, up about 40 percent year on year.
China Cotton Index price too has kept firm. October price increased 800 Yuan per ton from September, cotton demand from import and export companies enlarged, causing supply shortage and supply tension in the spot market.
