According to statistical data released by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Trade, production of ethylene in Japan, grew year-on-year in the month of October.
Ethylene output stood at 634,000 in October, to grow by 19.1 percent when compared with production in the same month of the previous year.
This development has enabled the naphtha crackers to run at high operational rates. Ethylene exports in September reached 248,300 tons, more than double, over the same period last year.
Export figures of October are not yet available. The Ministry had recently released a report suggesting that there will be a global excess supply of 9.6 million tons of ethylene derivatives by 2013.
