According to a survey conducted by China Cotton Information Network, as at the end of September 2009, commercial cotton inventories in domestic market totaled 850,000 tons (including imported cotton, not including state reserves cotton), an increase of 170,000 tons from 680,000 tons, which was the volume of stock at the end of August.

Among them, commercial inventories in inland were 530,000 tons and commercial inventories in Xinjiang (not shipped out from Xinjiang yet) were 320,000 tons and as cotton prices seem to look bullish, many enterprises have increased their procurement after acquiring loans from Agricultural Development Bank.

The survey shows that 35 percent of surveyed companies choose to increase their acquisition and maintain adequate inventory; 20 percent of the enterprises think that current price is relatively appropriate and have accepted the trend of fast purchasing and fast selling and only 10 percent of the enterprises think that purchase price of seed cotton is higher and will go slow in procurement.
