The retail entity of the Gujarat State Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation (GSHHDC), 'Garvi Gujarat' has received an export order to ship handloom goods since its inception from the US and Iran.

Garvi Gujarat which retails handloom and handicraft products under the brand name “Garvi Gurjari' has already shipped samples worth around Rs 200,000 to these countries. Garvi Gurjari has around 22 retail outlets in different cities of India.

Giving details, the Managing Director of GSHHDC, Mr Chaturvedi said that, handloom is a little bit costlier than machine made fabric, but offers quality and facilities for customization and a variety of designs are also available.

He added by saying that, in order to boost sales, GSHHDC began mixing products and instead of selling just handlooms, it also introduced handicrafts like block printing, due to which sales also picked up and plan to establish Garvi Gujarat as a premium brand.
