Pollution is a sign of inefficiency in industrial production and has the potential to damage the environment to a very large extent. Pollution in industries can be through water, air and noise, of which, water pollution is more significant, compared to the other means of pollution.
Consumption of water in the many of the processes associated with the textile industry, like, sizing, scouring, bleaching, dyeing, printing and other finishing processes is very high.
After the processing, the discharged water carries various deadly constituents such as dyes and chemicals, which is directly released into the sources of water, which gets contaminated, thus resulting in water pollution.
Nowadays the use of synthetic fibres, polymers and finishes by textile industry is increasing at rapid rate. Since many of these products are resistant to biological degradation, it causes water pollution when released as effluent into the water sources.
